What's up? This is the first review of the Poweriser Jumping Stilts on the FireMecca online store. I have had the Advanced Poweriser Jumping Stilts for a couple of weeks now. I got these things to make exercising more fun. Because I am over 30, and I find ordinary exercise like running painful and boring I got these. For my purposes these things have worked well. After 3 sessions using these I feel my confidence using them has progressed quite a bit. I have never had a problem standing from a sturdy, well-balanced chair using nearby walls to lean on. When exercising (jogging in-place for now) I stand in front of a fully opened standard 6 foot A frame ladder turned to a perpendicular angle so I can use it to grab onto or hold with one hand if necessary, and as a convenient place to put drinks, snacks, and even my mouse and mouse pad go well on the fold-out tray that would ordinarily hold a paint can. That has worked quite well, and has been a fun way to exercise. My skill level and confidence increase every time I workout. Soon I expect to be jogging around outside wearing these Jumping Stilts (weather permitting of course). Greenlake, here I come. I have read that a person can run over 20 miles per hour using these, which sounds like a lot of fun. Ordinarily I can only run 10 miles per hour and sprint to 12. At the time I bought these, my lazy ass probably could only jog 6 mph for a few minutes. I look forward to getting back into shape so I can catch up with those hot hopefully-single lady runners again... I haven't fallen yet, but I am sure that would happen sooner or later especially once I take my new sport outdoors. I will be sure to wear all of the protective gear at that time. From my experience as a roller-blader, I have found wrist pads, and falling forward instead of falling backward to be absolutely essential. From my experience jumping on trampolines as a kid, I have learned to fear doing flips, and from my many years experience skiing, I have learned that my fear of doing flips is well founded since nearly every week several boarders would break their necks trying to be cool and do tricks. Trust me, it sucks bad to break your neck. From my experience 13 years ago racing down a canyon on a mountain bike, and crashing (to avoid having a collision with children on the wrong side of the road around a blind corner)... I flew through the air like superman in slow-motion until my inglorious bellyflop on the pavement. That crash left some big scars on my jaw (pass on the stitches from the nurse, and demand a plastic surgeon does the work on your face if you are a pretty boy like me), palms, hips and knees, so if you plan on doing something extreme with these it would be a good idea to wear something more like a (modern professional full-face) football helmet with a Cowboy Collar/Neck Roll than a skater helmet or god forbid you use a bicycle helmet. Better yet, join a gym, you know the kind gymnasts use and do their tumbling in. Use their safety equipment, have a spotter, proper training and all that. I have seen people doing that on YouTube. Check it out. If I were 16 again (and still a skater/daredevil) then I definitely would have gone for the strongest springs (model number 90120). As a person just interested in exercise, I am happy with my latest purchase of a slightly lighter spring than recommended by the manufacturer. The last time I jumped over a car on rollerblades was 11 years ago, and I have no interest in doing flips over cars anymore no matter how good it looks on YouTube. I recommend you try out this product. It is very cool. I would probably recommend the Classic Powerisers at the current price of $190 (great deal!), because I doubt the Advanced Powerisers are worth the extra $170, but that is just a guess because I have never used the Classics. FireMecca was the best website I could find to do business with. They have delivered as expected, and I plan on doing business with them again in the future. Good luck, stay safe, protect your neck, and let's win this war on gravity! :) peace out... -Jason from SLC; Seattle, November 2009 PS This review was not compensated in any way. ATTN FireMecca Staff: Please feel free to donate some protective equipment for this extensive review. Thanks, I appreciate it :)
