Do you need KEVLAR (R) wick for your fire poi, fire staff, fire fan, or other fire implement? If so, you have come to the right place. We offer more sizes and varieties than any of our competitors, and at good prices, too.
These adhesive-backed tapes are the equivalent of K1-series 1.5 in. x 1/16. in tapes with a PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) on one side that sticks readily to most standard surfaces: metal, wood, etc. This makes them ideal for wrapping on staves, batons, torches of all kinds, tube cores, and so on. The wick should always be reinforced with some other fastening technique, such as screws, rivets, wire, or sewing with KEVLAR thread.
When applied properly, this wick can last easily as long as our standard K1-series 1/16 Kevlar(R) wick.
It is suggested that only white gas be used with this tape wick. Though many people have used this material on low-velocity equipment (torches, fans, fingers, etc.) lamp oil, kerosene, and biodiesel have been shown to dissolve the adhesive. While adhesive-backed tape wick is very convenient, especially for prototypes, we highly recommend sewing or more permanently affixing the wick for regular use or performance in front of audiences.
For more information on wick materials, please visit the Materials Information section in our Learning Center.
We strongly recommend using a secondary means of securing this wick in addition to the adhesive. Fire Mecca cannot offer any warranty nor guarantee on the adhesive wick or fire props manufactured using our materials.
