This Monkey Fist variation is only available at Fire Mecca. Instead of growing in all directions as Monkey's Fist Fire Poi Heads do, Egg Fire Poi Heads have a constant diameter, and increase in height only. The benefits include the ability to do tighter moves with larger wicks, burn time similar to MoonBlaze Fire Poi Heads (e.g., 8 minutes for large heads using lamp oil), and more fuel absorption due to the use of a mostly-wick core.

Two rope core materials are available: Fiberglass-core rope (K1RBF) and aramid-blend core rope (K1RBK). Aramid core rope will last longer in a physically hostile environment (e.g., kicking, hitting objects, "fire-rings"). Fiberglass core rope lasts longer in high-heat situations, and creates a slightly heavier monkey fist.

The standard #15 nickel-plated steel ball chain is shiny and swivels at every link. The other standard features are 3.0 mm zinc-plated steel quicklinks and leather single-loop handles. The poi body can be upgraded to #15 stainless steel (SS) ball or twist link (TL) chain for a small additional cost, and handles can be upgraded from single-loop (SL) to double-loop (DL).

Glow sticks, glow poi balls, and many other types of LED equipment can be easily attached to the chain through the use of the pre-existing quicklinks.

Fire poi come in any length, up to 30 inches, measured end-to-end. If you are not sure what length is right for you, a good estimate can be made by measuring from your fingertips to your chest, with your arm held straight in front of you. Most measurements end up between 21 and 28 inches.

All Monkey's Egg Fire Poi Heads are 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) in diamaeter, plus or minus 0.125 in. / 3.2 mm.The wick height (just the KEVLAR(R) material), as well as the height with the standard attachment, can be derived from the following list:

Tiny (1 in.) and Extra-large (5 in.) are available as custom items.
