In an effort to reduce waste of non-biodegradable materials, we now offer scrap by the ounce. Scrap KEVLAR (R) can be useful for heat-resistant wick filling (such as in hybrid wicks) or for recovering thread for sewing. Scrap wick contains short segments of tape and rope wick, which may be marked with masking tape where cuts were performed. Most segments are between 1 inch long to 1 foot long. Help us help the environment by finding ways to use scrap materials!

Scrap Kevlar is limited to stock on hand. Please contact us to verify we have what you need if you are ordering more than 32 ounces.

We will not fill requests for specific types or lengths of scrap.

Scrap is made up of our tape and rope materials, which are Kevlar (R) mixed with fiberglass, and scraps contain the some proportion of Kevlar (R) to fiberglass.

Thoroughly overjoyed with the amount of loot from the 50oz of kevlar scraps. My original intention was to make pasties and you only need about a 2" strip. After getting such a large variety I may be coming up with some really creative projects for all this. It took me about 2 evenings to sort it all and I even got a 2" wide strip that's 3' long and big enough to become a belt. It is a bit sneezy with the fibers running this way and that and I still had some 1" or less strays that had to be tossed. All in all if you make your own gear and don't need a ton of it, this is highly recommended. And the more you buy, the bigger the discount!

It is cheap and you get a bag of it. Peices are inconsistent size and types of kevlar. Average peices are around 8 inches long and an inch wide. There are toys you can make if you get creative like jamming a bunch of the small peices onto a cotter pin with washers and super glue to make some ghetto poi heads. They create a big flame and work alright but are messy and get soot everywhere. I have made stationary torches to set around during performances with this stuff too. I havn't tried it yet but you could collect the strings to use as kevlar sewing thread if you had time, or use it for filling on some big heads. Safety may be an issue for some of this but just keep it legit!!
